You’ve one month to rectify your illegal power stealing or be prosecuted & published widely-ECG warns
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced plans to start auditing all its meters.
Although the power supplier failed to give a specific date for the exercise, it said it would be soon.
It said as part of this field survey, teams from ECG officials will be deployed to update customer information.
The ECG has therefore noted that customers have been given a one-month moratorium beginning June 6 to July 6 to report to the district/regional offices for rectification of postpaid customers whose meters do not receive bills, prepaid customers who do not purchase electricity credits, customers who meters are faulty, customers who have bypassed or tampered with their meters and therefore not paying for full cost of power usage and customers who have engaged in any form of electrical illegality.
The ECG warned persons who refuse to take advantage of the month moratorium would be charged and prosecuted and names published widely.
