The ruling New Patriotic Party, (NPP) has warned delegates it would punish persons who would flout the guidelines put in place for the National Delegates Conference to be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021.
At a press conference held on Monday, December 13, 2021, Mr. Yaw Boaben Asamoa, the Communications Director of the NPP, said; “we expect most of the people contending to be self-regulating, to be restrained, and also to restrain their supporters from disobeying the rules we have brought out.”
“After we issued the first directive, some have begun to pull down the billboards that they put up, but we won’t hesitate to sanction anyone who flouts the directive,” he added.
He disclosed that the NPP has banned all activities associated with internal contests, parliamentary and presidential primaries.
Aside from the ban, the party has also placed an embargo on the display of paraphernalia and advocacy for the delegates conference.
He said the party acting under Article 10 (10) (1) of the Constitution of the Party and in furtherance of the Code of Conduct issued under Article 18., issued the guidelines.
“Prior to and during the Conference on 18th to 20th December 2021, no billboards and or signboards, banners, or any kind of outdoor signage with the images and or names of individual members, with or without the consent of the individual, shall be acceptable. This applies to the area within the Greater Kumasi Metropolis. All such displays, if put up already, should be removed,” the party directed in the statement.
“Furthermore, no t-shirts, flyers, brochures, and or souvenirs, branded and or embossed with the portraits and names of individuals, shall be allowed within the precincts of the Conference, including but not limited to places of accommodation for delegates.”
