WHO reports record daily rises in COVID-19 infections

The World Health Health Organisation (WHO), has reported a record one-day rise in the number of new coronavirus cases around the world.

According to the WHO, 307,930 confirmed infections were reported over 24 hours.

More than 5,500 new deaths were also recorded, bringing the global total to 917,417.

India, the United States and Brazil are the three countries that have recorded the biggest increases with 94, 372, 45,523 and 43,718 cases respectively.

Israel has become the first country to announce it will reimpose a second nationwide lockdown later this week.
