We’II not allow you to use private armed security for a demonstration-Police to Barker-Vormawor, Captain Smart & others

The Ghana Police Service has described an intended demonstration to be organised by Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah, Captain Godsbrain Smart, Benjamin Darko and Oliver Barker-Vormawor as inconsistent with the Public Order Act.

The Police in a statement described the demonstrations as so because the demonstrators have informed the Service of its intention to contract armed private security to provide security for the demonstration.

It said the Police will not be able to provide security for the organizers because the demonstration is in violation of the Public Order Act.

It added that the intended demonstration has the potential to threaten public order and public safety.

According to the Police, it has asked the organizers to reconsider their approach adding, that they have put in place measures to ensure that unauthorised persons don’t hit our streets with weapons.
