Wearing of smock banned in Bawku

The Office of the Upper East Regional Coordinating Council has placed a ban on the wearing of smock in Bawku township.

The Council in a statement said the decision was taken after the Regional Security Council had met on the security situation in the area.

According to the statement, some suspected criminals and unscrupulous persons hide arms and ammunition in smocks and attack opponents or victims.

Residents have been asked to comply with the directive until further notice.
