We never threatened to burn EC materials, we protested against lack of development-Kasoa residents
Residents of Kasoa Iron City in the Awutu Senya East Constituency in the Central region have clarified that they never threatened to burn equipment to be used by the Electoral Commission (EC) in its registration exercise.
According to the residents, they were only protesting against the lack of proper development in the area despite voting in every election.
Spokesperson, for the residents Aikins Mensah who is also the chair for the landlords association in the area said the residents are only agitated because they have been taken for granted for far too long.
According to him, the main reason behind their agitation was based on the fact that a new polling station has been created in the area.
He said they are worried because it seems authorities are only interested in the elections and not the development of the area.
”For the past 20 years, we haven’t seen any developmental projects carried out in the area. Our leaders are only interested in elections and not development. We are disappointed in our leaders. We want to see development and not only elections,” he added.
