We commend Prez Akufo-Addo for his covid-19 fight & support-China
The charge d’Afffaires of the Chinese Embassy of Ghana Mr. Zhu Jing has extended gratitude to the government of Ghana for the support China received in the early days of the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus which claimed several lives.
Speaking as a guest at the Ghana-China Economic Cultural Week, 9th China Medical Team to Ghana, he said President Akufo-Addo and his Vice Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia were supportive of China during their worst stages of the covid-19.
He said the Chinese government is extremely grateful to Ghana and was also concerned about the outbreak in Ghana hence their decision to offer assistance to Ghana to manage the outbreak.
He was happy Ghana and China gave been able to manage the outbreak and reduced the rate of infections.
The outbreak and lockdown in China affected the economy by shrinking it by 6.8% in the first quarter but by the second quarter, it rebounded and grew by 3.2% and 4.9%.
He announced China is anticipating to grow bigger and the only country anticipated to achieve a positive growth despite the negative impacts on the economy.
Mr. Zhu Jing who spoke via a recorded video noted that China will continue to help Ghana manage the coronavirus outbreak.
He disclosed that the objective to develop a vaccine is on course and would be made accessible and affordable for developing countries.
Traditional Chinese Medicine he stated is very popular in China and has made great contributions to the health of the Chinese people in preventing infectious diseases such as SARS and coronavirus.
The use of traditional medicine he added is unique and uses systemic approach in managing conditions and has been involved in treating the outbreak.
He stressed it has been positive and provided persons affected by the outbreak relief.
On his part, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Amen Scientific and Alternative Herbal Hospital Dr. Sheikh Amen Bonsu said the year 2020 has been a challenging year due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.
He said there have several searches for drugs to help treat the outbreak across the world.
Amen, he said has managed to develop three drugs that have been accepted as a supportive treatment for managing the coronavirus outbreak.
He said the center has achieved a lot in managing complications and offered a cure for several conditions nationwide through their over 20 branches.
The hospital has also established a college to train practitioners, he added.
He further urged the government to continue to support herbal medicine practitioners.
