Veep cuts short Accra tour to commiserate with North East flood victims
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has cut short his campaign tour of the Greater Accra region and headed to the North East Region to commiserate with victims of Thursday’s floods that affected several communities and lives in the West Mamprusi Municipality.
Together with the regional NADMO and the North East Regional Coordinating Council he conveyed the President’s sympathies to the affected persons and donated relief items.
According to him, the government is very much concerned about the plight of all citizens, particularly in times of grief and such casualties. It is my prayer that the lives of the victims and the affected communities will come back to normalcy in the shortest possible time.
Four villages, Gaagbini, Dimia, Tinkaya and Banawa have severe damages as a result of the flood.
These villages were submerged in floodwaters following massive torrential rains that forced the banks of three dams to break, allowing the water from the dams to rush onto the villages.
Farmlands were destroyed while several homes were also submerged while livestock were carried away by the floodwaters.
