Veep commiserates with Rawlings following the death of his mother

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia this morning, led a government delegation, on behalf of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to commiserate with former President of the Republic, H.E Jerry John Rawlings and family following the loss of his mother, Madam Victoria Agbotui.

He expressed government’s deepest condolences to former President Rawlings and family for the loss.

Taking to his official Facebook page, the Vice President said: ” This morning, I led a government delegation, on behalf of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to commiserate with former President of the Republic, H.E Jerry John Rawlings and family following the loss of his dear mother, Madam Victoria Agbotui.

I expressed government’s deepest condolences to former President Rawlings and family for the loss.

May Madam Victoria rest in peace.”

A statement issued by the Communications Directorate of the Office of the Former President, a few days ago said Madam Agbotui died in the early hours of Thursday, September 24, 2020. She died aged 101.

“Former President Rawlings, the Anlo State and the Agbotui and allied families wish to express their gratitude to all who have and continue to express their sympathies,” the statement indicated.

The Former President and his family have also requested the public to respect their privacy during this difficult period.

The statement further indicated that details of the funeral of Madam Agbotui will be communicated by the family in due course.
