UNICEF, NTC organizes workshop on UDL for tutors, others
As part of the implementation of the new Curriculum sub-concept of Universal Design Learning (UDL) in the education system in the country, the leadership of the National Teaching Council in collaboration with UNICEF have organized a three-day training workshop for the head of departments and tutors from all colleges of education in the country at Anita hotel in Kumasi.
Speaking to the media, the director of the Institute for Educational Research and Innovation Studies of the University of Education, Professor Samuel Hayford said, the UDL concept is a guiding principles framework for designing instructions to address the wide range of learners variation in today’s inclusive classrooms.
The concept he explained could be applied effectively to broaden access, understanding, and engagement in digital and media literacy learning for all.
He said the implementation of the UDL will give opportunities for every child to get access to universal Education no matter how the attitude and form of the child.
On his part, the Deputy Registrar of the National Teaching Council (NTC) Mr. Lawrence Sarpong urged parents and guidances not to allow any form of their children to prevent them from educational opportunities.
Some participants at the workshop shared their experience and knowledge acquired from the workshop which will help them to go and teach their colleagues tutors on the need to create opportunities for all school children to learn.
