Transport fares to be reduced by 10%

Effective August, 1, 2020, transport operators will reduce transport fares by 10 percent.

This comes after the government to ease restrictions and allowed, transport operators, to start loading to full capacity.

Last Sunday, the president announced that phase two of the ease of restrictions will among other things allow transport operators to load to full capacity.

Following the decision, the Ghana Road Transport Union and other stakeholders were asked to redu8cee transport fares which they increased by 15% recently.

The transport unions have agreed to issue a communique to all member transport unions for them to implement the 10 percent reduction by Saturday, August 1, 2020.

This was disclosed by the National Chairman of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), Mr Kwame Kuma.
