Sports Minister donates $1,000 to Black Bombers, promises them of gov’t support
Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif has assured the National Amateur Boxing Team, the Black Bombers team, of all the necessary support they would need to represent Ghana.
He said President Akufo-Addo directed him to give equitable attention to all sports and not only football.
He noted the camping budget for the team had been presented to his ministry, and efforts are underway to do things differently.
The Minister said he would ensure that the team would get all the needed support so they will deliver at the Olympics.
According to him, they would not be able to give all the support, but the government will support them so they come home with medals.
On the issue of bonuses, the Minister told the team that persons who would win medals would be the ones to be rewarded.
He said the bonuses would be ”performance-based”.
On his personal level, he donated $1,000 to the team to help them prepared for the Olympics.
Coach Ofori Asare on his part said the Bombers would come home with medals.
He expressed gratitude to the Minister for his kind gesture.
