Shooting incident at Doba leads to death of one person; five suspects arrested

One person is reported dead in connection with a renewed clash between Doba and Kandiga in the Kassena-Nankana Municipal and Kassena-Nankana West District in the Upper East Region.

Five other suspects have also been arrested in connection to the disturbances.

Rainbowradioonline.com gathered that there were sporadic gunshots between the two communities last night.

The safety of road users plying the Bolgatanga-Navrongo road was threatened following the incident.

The Police say calm has returned to the community, adding the cause of the shooting was unknown.

Upper East Regional Police PRO, ASP David Fianko-Okyere, said, the suspects will be put before court soon.

“When the gunshots were heard, the police and military moved in and contained the situation. Calm has been restored in the area. One person was shot dead, and five persons were arrested in connection with the disturbances. Investigations are ongoing, and they will be processed for court for a decision to be made on them”.
