A traditional ruler, Nana Ayisi Adu Gyamfi, the Adontenhene of Sefwi Chirano, has expressed worry over recent killings in Sefwi, suggesting that traditional leaders and other stakeholders must take up the matter and bring an end to it.
He revealed a similar thing that occurred in the area some 30 years ago, but it seems the situation is creeping back into the community.
According to him, some other evil persons from other communities come to the area to commit crimes to give them a bad name.
He also urged residents in the area to volunteer information about suspected criminals and persons engaging in activities that will threaten the security and stability of the community.
He was speaking to Kwabena Agyapong on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm.
The traditional leader hinted that the chiefs would partner with the security agencies to clamp down on all criminal activities, especially murder.
He noted that the impression these crimes paint about Sefwi was not a positive one and ”so we would work with the security agencies and expose these forms of crimes.
He lamented that they are criminal-minded persons engaging in different forms of unlawful acts in the community.
He said the media should also be circumspect in how they narrate these stories so it would not create an impression that the area was evil.
He argued that there are equally good men and women in the community.
When asked what accounts for these murders, he opined that there are several rumours surrounding these killings, including alleged ritual purposes, but I would not want to speculate but I would wait till the Police have concluded the investigations into these murders.
