Return seized bicycles or be sacked from NPP-Defeated aspirant warned
One of the candidates in the New Patriotic Party primaries in the Assin North constituency, Mr. Eric Amankwa has been asked to return the bicycles he seized from delegates after losing the bicycles or be dismissed from the party.
General Secretary of the party John Boadu who issued the warning described the act by the defeated aspirant as “uncouth” which the party will not tolerate.
He has therefore been asked to return the bicycles immediately or risk losing his membership from the party.
The aspirant prior to the primaries bought 250 bicycles for delegates prior to the election.
However, he went back to seize the bicycles after he lost. He garnered just 44 votes compared to that of the incumbent MP Abena Duruwa Mensah who polled 389 votes.
But Mr. Boaduy reacting to the incident said: “He wants to be exited from the party. Next time he can’t even apply and even attempt to contest in any internal election. Nobody forced him to gift bicycles. Was he expecting everybody to vote for him because of the bicycles, doesn’t it mean if next time someone shares Cars he must be voted for? That is not a democracy”.
“He should return the bicycles else he has sacked himself from the party. I am speaking on authority. The party will not recognize him anymore. He is done with the party. We can’t encourage such uncouth behaviour in our party”, he added.
