Presidency supporting Lydia Alhassan to bus ‘foreigners’ to Ayawaso West Wuogon-NDC Chair
National Democratic Congress (NDC) Ayawaso West Wuogon chairman Mr. Bismark Abobie has accused President Akufo-Addo and the Ghana Police Service of supporting the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate for the constituency Madam Lydia Alhassan to bus non-residents to come and register in the constituency.
Speaking to Kwabena Agyapong on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, Mr. Abobie said the government has created a polling station where they are busing people to come and register so they will get them to vote in 2020.
He is alleging this move has been sanctioned by the presidency with support from the police in clear violation of the law for the registration exercise.
He opined non-residents are not qualified to register but the candidate is busing people to come and register.
The NDC as a party he stated will not entertain this violation.
He admonished the police not to allow themselves to be used to intimidate people but discharge their duties without fear nor favour.
To the EC he asked them not to compromise the integrity of the registration process if they want to compile a credible register.
”Ghana Police should be careful. They should not allow themselves to be used to intimidate and abuse people. President Akufo-Addo is desperate to retain power. If he thinks he has performed as he claims, he should allow Ghanaian voters to decide and stop his machinations,” he added.
