Parl approves 135m euro loan for first phase of Suame Interchange project

Parliament has approved the Commercial Facility Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Ghana (represented by the Ministry of Finance) and Deutsche Bank S.A.E. (as Arranger, Structuring Bank, Mandated Lead Arranger and Agent) for an amount of Twenty-One Million Euros (€21,000,000.00).

This loan is to finance the design, and construction of phase one (1) of the Suame Interchange and ancillary works project at Kumasi.

Presenting the committee’s report, the chairman of the finance committee, Mr. Kwaku Kwarteng, outlined several advantages the Suame Interchange would serve the good people of the Ashanti region and its sounding regions.

Supporting the approval of the loan, the minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu, urged members of the House to approve the loan in order to help reduce the heavy traffic in around the road and also motorists that ply the road to other regions.
