Outcome of NPP primaries a sign of victory for 2020-NPP, UK
Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the United Kingdom, Mr. Richard Kwame Boateng has commended the party for organising what he described as a ”peaceful parliamentary primaries.
The outcome of the polls he opined shows how prepared the NPP is for victory for the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections.
He said contrary to claims that the defeat of some 40 sitting MPs will have a negative impact on the party, he said this goes to show that the NPP has the finest brains at all levels to help transform the country.
Mr. Boateng asked Ghanaians to see this as an opportunity for the NPP to bring in a new crop of the finest brains as candidates.
”The party has not lost anything, rather the party has gained and the experienced politicians who did not get the re-election will nurture the new ones and make the party strong. On the whole, Ghana is the winner, NPP is the winner and every constituency will benefit from the quality leadership of the NPP,” he added.
Forty sitting MPs lost their seats in the primaries organised on Saturday.
Among the MPs who lost their candidature are Dr Mark Asibey Yeboah, Chairman of the Finance Committee, Frederick Opare Ansah, the Chairman of the Communications Committee, Ben Banda Abdallah, the Chairman of the Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee, Collins Owusu Amankwaah, the Chairman of the Government Assurances Committee, William Quaittoo Agyapong, the Chairman of the Education Committee, and Alex Agyekum, the Chairman of the Youth and Sports Committee.
