One more suspect arrested in connection to lynching of 90-year-old woman

The police have arrested one of the main suspects who led the lynching of the 90-year-old woman at Kafaba in the East Gonja Municipality in the Savannah Region last week on the accusation of being a witch.

The suspect Latifah Bumaye, 33, was arrested at Kejewu Bator, a fishing community near Salaga, the capital of the East Gonja Municipality.

Police report indicates that Latifah Bumaye was among the women seen in the video lynching and whipping the late 90-year-old Denteh.

So far, six persons have been arrested in connection to the lynching.

The five other suspects were recently transferred to the Savannah Regional Police Headquarters and put before the Magistrate Court in Bole and have been remanded to reappear on August 20, 2020.
