One armed robbed shot dead, two others arrested

The police have arrested two suspected robbers at Wassa Akropong alleged to have participated in a bank robbery.

The two are said to be part of a gang of armed robbers who attacked the Upper Amenfi Rural Bank at Jukwa near Wassa Akropong on 27th June 2022.

The suspects have been identified as Tahiru Issaka alias Red, and Yahuza Mohammed.

One other person, who was shot during the operations died later, the Police disclosed.

He was identified by the suspects as Gafar Ziyech Abdul alias Stone, leader of the gang.

The suspects allegedly robbed the bank on June 27, 2022, and disarmed a security officer on duty and assaulted two other bank officials.

They also made away with an unspecified amount.

They were pursued by the Police but the robbers set their vehicle ablaze to foil the Police tracking them.

The Police further noted that a combined effort by the Ashanti, Bono East, and Western regions led to the arrest of the two suspects eight weeks after the robbery incident.
