NSA does not recognise WABBA-PRO

Public Relations Officer for the National Sports Authority (GSA), Charles Amofa has disclosed on Rainbow Sports that the only recognised association to oversee bodybuilding activities in Ghana is the Ghana Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (GBFA).

He explained there cannot be two bodies overseeing the affairs of the bodybuilding activities.

He said the NSA only recognises GBFA which is affiliated to the International Federation for Bodybuilding.

”GBFA is the only body we recognise and has worked with them for several years and so if someone is operating another body, that is a private initiative and not recognised by the NSA.”

The World Amateur Body Builders Association (WABA) is set to organise the Super Body national showdown in Accra and has indicated top the public that the activity has been sanctioned by NSA.

But Mr. Amofa in an interview with Isaac Worlanyo Wallace insisted the NSA has not endorsed WABBA.

According to him, the recent group approved by the NSA is the Draft Association and no other bodybuilding group has been approved by the NSA, he added.

”We don’t recognise two associations to handle one discipline. It is never done,” he declared.

wabba, which seeks to develop and promote healthy living, was launched at the Safari Art Gallery in Accra in 2018.

The WABBA Ghana Chapter, the third in Africa after Mauritius and Cameroon is affiliated to its international body in the United Kingdom.

The President of WABBA Ghana, Victor Baiden, at the launch stated that WABBA Ghana would be partnering with the National Sports Authority and the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the media to rebrand and position Ghana as the best in Africa and the World.

But the NSA PRO says it has not sanctioned the work of WABBA because there cannot be two bodies managing one discipline.
