NPP leaders, group slam party for declaring Asiama to go unopposed
A group calling itself Atwima Mponua Youth Movement -Mpasatia branch together with some NPP constituency executives, supporters and friends of John Ofori Atta have slammed leadership of the party for disqualifying their candidate.
The group has, therefore, warned the party will lose the 2020 parliamentary election should they still declare the incumbent MP Isaac Asiama unopposed.
Three persons filed their forms to contest for Atwima Mponua parliamentary primary.
They were Augustina Asare, John Ofori Atta and the incumbent MP Isaac Kwame Asiama.
After vetting, two of the candidates were disqualified leaving the Sports Minister to go unopposed.
This, the group believes was intentionally done to have the incumbent contest unopposed.
They want the party to clear their preferred candidate John Ofori Atta to contest the primary.
The group has also given the party an ultimatum of a week or forget about the seat.
The group led by Abraham Gyamfi, a treasurer of the party accused Chairman Wontumi and other executives of the party of orchestrating this agenda.
