‘Nana Addo has the best performance than any gov’t’-Veep
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has touted the first term of President Akufo-Addo as the best in Ghana’s history since 1992.
The economist said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) under Nana Addo has performed well compared to any other government since 1992.
Dr. Bawumia indicated that although former President Kufour is touted as the best, his best was a combination of his two terms.
However, Nana Addo has the best performance than any government since 1992.
The worst economic performance since 1992 he suggested were all recorded under the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The Vice President is today [Tuesday] headlining the first government town hall meeting for 2020 in Kumasi.
The recent favourarble credit by S&P is a testament to the country’s competent economic management team, he said.
The cedi he maintained has performed better under the NPP because the data shows that Ghana’s macroeconomic fundamentals are strong.
Under the NDC the cedi was running at the speed of Usain Bolt, but under the NPP, the cedi has been arrested, he declared.
He explained that Ghana is not practising a fixed exchange rate regime but a floating exchange rate regime, so we can expect the exchange rate to be fixed. Rather the rate of the local currency’s depreciation is what can be reduced and that is what the government has been doing.
