MPs in a near physical fight over tidal waves saga

Some members of parliament from both sides of the house nearly traded blows over issues relating to the tidal waves that occurred in Keta in the Volta region over the weekend.

The confrontation was caused by a photo used by the Majority Caucus in Parliament on the issue of tidal waves.

Deputy Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo Markin showed a photo of scenes from the disaster caused by the tidal waves to the press.

But in the process of his presentation, former Energy Minister, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah and South Dayi MP, Rockson Nelson Dafiamekpor started heckling him.

They heckled him because they accused him of making a false claim about the incident.

The Bole Bamboi MP, Yusif Sulemana, snatched the photo from the Deputy Majority Leader and gave it to Dafeamekpor.

Nhyeaso MP, Stephen Amoah, then followed up to retrieve the image from Mr Nelson Dafeamekpor.

The incident led to a brawl where Dafeamekpor threatened to assault the MP.

They had to be separated by other MPs since they could have gotten into a fight.

The image was later handed back to Afenyo Markin.
