Manifestoes of NDC, NPP does not give voices to women, youth-Yeboah

Founder of the Economic Fighters League Ernesto Yeboah has suggested both the manifestoes of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) does not deal with challenges of the youth and women.

In a post, the outspoken youth leader described the two manifestoes as tokenism.

He said the youth and women are the ones to go into churches and mosques and villages to canvass for votes for the two parties yet, they are the most marginalized and denied of their rights to have their voices at the centre and not the periphery as it stands.

He wrote: ”We cannot succumb to tokenism. We must demand our rightful places. We cheapen ourselves as a generation by not demanding these rights and feeling compelled to vote because they are all we’ve got. Excuse me, you will never feed on excreta just because that’s what has been offered you. Don’t we deserve better?”

He wants the youth and women to hold their power and desist from voting to show the parties that we deserve better than what they have offered.

”If they are not going to respect us, we are going to hold our power until sanity prevails.

They can make all the noise they want but they cannot force us to vote. In this year’s elections we the People are holding our Power.”

Combing the manifestos of the NPP and NDC it is clear the biggest losers once again are the Youth and Women. We are the ones who will go into the streets, the schools, the markets, the lorry stations, the churches, the mosques, the villages, and our homes to canvass for votes; yet in these manifestos we are the most marginalized, the most denied in our rights to have our voices at the Centre and not on the periphery as it stands.

They are recklessly taking loans in our names for projects they are not undertaking; signing dangerous agreements and surrendering our national sovereignty to foreign powers; polluting our water bodies, land, food and environment with poison handed down as aid; dissipating our wealth and mortgaging our mineral resources far and out of our reach for ever – yet these manifestos attend to nothing of this sorry condition of Women and Youth.
We cannot succumb to tokenism. We must demand our rightful places. We cheapen ourselves as a generation by not demanding these rights and feeling compelled to vote because they are all we’ve got. Excuse me, you will never feed on excreta just because that’s what has been offered you. Don’t we deserve better?

If they are not going to respect us, we are going to hold our power until sanity prevails.

They can make all the noise they want but they cannot force us to vote. In this year’s elections we the People are holding our Power.
