Man of God arrested for contravening ban on social gatherings

A pastor has been arrested at North Suntreso in Kumasi for failing to comply with the ban on social gatherings imposed in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak in Ghana.

The man of God, Apostle Kofi Nkrumah Sarkodie reportedly organised members of his church for his service on Wednesday morning (March 18, 2020).

The church members were seen shouting at the police when they arrived at the church premises to arrest the pastor.

He was later whisked away in the police vehicle.

President Akufo-Addo a few days ago suspended all public gatherings in the country following the outbreak of Coronavirus diseases (COVID-19) in Ghana as of Saturday, March 14, 2020.

He made this known in a televised national address Sunday night [March 15, 2020].

He said the new directives follows an earlier meeting of Inter-Ministerial Committee on Coronavirus response which he chaired and it deliberated on the issues.
