Mahama’s policy to pay Assembly members is great news-Assembly Man
The Assembly-member for Kojoba electoral area Mr. John Wesely has said his prayer is for former President John Dramani to win the 2020 presidential polls so he will pay assembly members as he has promised.
He asserted that such an initiative would boost the morale of assembly members and make them work harder.
The flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr John Dramani Mahama, on Monday reiterated his pledge to pay assembly members if he wins the upcoming 7 December 2020 presidential race.
Speaking at the launch of the manifesto launch, the candidate said assembly members must be financially supported to enable them to perform those tasks.
The former President had earlier observed that the progress made in decentralisation has been rolled back in the last three-and-a-half years, following the government’s bastardisation of both the civil and local government service.
Mr Mahama said he is committed to the local government process, adding: “it is only through decentralisation that we can see true progress in the country”.
Reaching to this, the assembly member said assembly members are patiently waiting for the return of Mr. Mahama to help them get paid for their work.
To him, if Mr. Mahama can pay the over 5,000 assembly members then it is good should be supported.
