Mahama is setting the pace to reject his defeat in the 2020 polls-NPP
Deputy Campaign Manager of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Abdul Mustapha Hamid has stated that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has set out an agenda to reject the outcome of the 2020 general elections.
Addressing the media on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, the Minister of Inner Cities and Zongo Development said the NDC is doing this through two objectives and that is to first project the Electoral Commission as not credible, incompetent, and biased and second to create a false sense of insecurity to hoodwink the electorates
He said this is evident by the party’s insistent attacks on the EC, the integrity of its processes, and persistent doomsday proclamations to court disaffection for government with the ultimate aim of salvaging their poor electoral fortunes.
He opined the NDC is doing this on the back of an imminent defeat.
The umbrella family he stated has set the stage to reject the outcome of the yet to be conducted 2020 polls.
He wondered why former President Mahama who in 2016 called on Ghanaians to allow the EC conduct its independent work will today, lead attacks on the Jean Mensa led EC.
He was of the view all these attacks show the unwillingness of candidate John Mahama to accept defeat after the 2020 polls should the NDC lose.
He said following the failed attempts by the NDC to stop the compilation of the new register, the NDC has consistently attacked the EC as incompetent and tagged it as an appendage of the ruling government.
The Minister added that the NDC through propaganda is creating a false state of insecurity to play on the emotions of Ghanaians for electoral gains.
