Kumasi Girls: Final year students asked to go home for mid-sem break
Management of the Kumasi Girls Senior High School in the Ashanti Region has finally allowed final year students to go home for their mid-semester break.
The students on Monday held a demonstration after the school told them they could not go home due to a directive from the Ghana Education Service.
A joint Police and Military Force were deployed to the school to maintain calm, but students alleged assault from the Military.
The directive from the GES was due to the surge in cases in some secondary schools.
But the school has reversed its decision and allowed the students to go home.
A board member of the school, Francis Amoako Asante, speaking to the media disclosed that the incident that occurred on Monday made them asked the students to go home.
“After the demonstration happened, there was also a communiqué that we should allow them to go. So yesterday [Tueasday], by 8:00 am, all the form three students who wanted to go have all gone… more than 90 percent have gone.”
The students (boarders) are expected to0 return on Sunday, whereas those in the day category would rerun on Monday.
