It’s either Prez or Ofori-Atta is peddling lies over Covid-19 expenditure- Minority

The Minority in Parliament has described the presentation by Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta on the Covid-19 expenditure as contradictory.

The Minority says the presentation by the Minister and comments made by the President have shown different figures of expenditure.

Contributing to discussions on the presentation by the Finance Minister in Parliament on Wednesday, June 22, the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu said, “Mr. Speaker, the Minister at page 4 in his statement accounts for GHS19.3 billion as programme support received then Mr. Speaker when you come to expenditure on Covid, he accounts for GHS12 billion, then the President accounts for GHS17.7 billion. So where is the missing money? GHS17.7 billion against GHS12 billion, where is the money?”

To him, it is either the President or the Minister are lying to Ghanaians.

For his part, a former Deputy Minister of Finance, Dr. Casiel Ato Forson asked for a probe into the issue.

“We cannot sit here and say the Minister of Finance should be the only one accounting for the COVID amount. The Minister responsible for Finance is only a conduit for releasing the money. But the monies were spent at various MDAs,” the Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam MP said.
