I’m ready to play in the Ghana League & for the national team-Kwarteng
Ghanaian defender Peter Oduro Kwarteng who until the outbreak of the coronavirus was playing for Egyptian Premier League side Petrojet, has expressed his readiness to play for any of Ghana’s top Premier League clubs as plans are underway to resume the league in October.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on Rainbow Sports with Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi, the talented defender said the outbreak of the coronavirus affected the league in Egypt hence he had to evacuate back home.
The former King Faisal based player told the host he had engaged with some of the clubs in Ghana and was hopeful he would get the opportunity to play in the Premier League.
”Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the football season in Egypt has slowed and so, I am praying to get the opportunity to play for a club in Ghana as the league resumes in October,” he added.
Kwarteng was Ghana Under-23 strong defender who played for Ghana at the All African Games under coach Malik Jabir.
The player during his team at the Egyptian side was nominated for the Egyptian Premier League young player of the year award.
His performance for Petrojets also kept a flock of European clubs interested in signing him.
The strong centre-back who has played for three teams in Egypt and also had some play in Lebanon also expressed interest in playing for the national team.
According to him, he has gained all the needed experience to play for the national team.
He said his dream is to play for the national team and make his country proud.
”I am confident of my capacity and experience to join the Black Stars. I believe I have what it takes and when given the opportunity, I will excel,” he stated.
The player is one of the most respected active defenders in the Egyptian top-flight.
The tough-tackling defender was spotted by celebrated Al Ahly coach Hossam Mohamed.
