I never went to UK for covid-19 treatment-Prez
President Akufo-Addo has rubbished media reports that he was flown to the UK for COVID-19 treatment.
Speaking for the first time in public after his isolation, the president noted. he was amazed about the media reports and that he has been in Ghana throughout his two-week isolation period.
He made the remarks at a meeting with the leadership of the Vehicles and Asserts Dealers Union of Ghana.
In response to comments made by the Spokesperson of the Union, Mr Opoku-Agyemang about his welfare, the president said: “I want to thank you for your interest in my welfare, I am fine and I am here. I was sitting in my room and I was told I was sitting in a plane that was heading for Oxford, and its trajectory plotted on a map. I was amazed but there it is, this is the Ghana in which we live, thank you.”
The President resumed work on Monday after his 14-day isolation.
This became necessary after he came into contact with a covid-19 positive patient.
He, however, tested negative after his first samples were taken and has since been engaging in his official duties from the presidential villa.
While in isolation, the President held two virtual meetings – government’s 80th cabinet meeting and a meeting with his 2020 Campaign Communications Advisory Team where he urged the team to emphasize the need for adherence to Coronavirus safety protocols.
