I don’t solely depend on movies to survive-Jessica Williams
Jessica Williams, a Ghanaian talented actress, has said she does not depend solely on acting to meet her financial need.
As a professionally trained auditor, the actress said she would not encourage anyone to depend solely on acting because it does not pay well.
Jessica Williams said as a beginner, it was not easy for her and a point, she had t take a break from acting to go and work.
She said there were situations where she had her to use her own costumes and cater for her own transportation without being reimbursed by the producers.
Speaking to Sokoohemaa Kukua on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm she said her father did not like her idea of acting and at a point, he asked her not come to him for financial assistance after she left her paid job for acting.
Jessica Williams said she took a break for 8 months until she received a call to join ‘Living with Tricia’ a television series which aired on Viasat 1.
”I don’t solely depend on movies because sometimes it’s good sometimes it’s not. So you need to have something you fall back on when that period where is not good you will have something to hold you” she added.
The actress when asked if it was difficult to be an actress in Ghana said: ”it’s 50-50. If you are an actress and you decide to let the public decide your life for you…there would be pressure on you. But for me as a person, I live up to my standards. I work with what I have. I don’t follow the crowd. If I have to buy waakye by the street and I don’t have my kid sister around, I go stand by the waakye and buy it myself. I just a human being like anyone else. I am not a superhuman.”
