Hawa Koomson does not interfere with my work- Kasoa MCE

Anita Love Obo Amissah has denied allegations that the Minister for Fisheries, Mavis Hawa Koomson, interferes with her work as the Municipal Chief Executive for Awutu Senya East.

According to the MCE, she is an independent woman who operates independently of her political godmother.

She was responding to a question on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm.

“An interesting question was asked about whether I work independently. We are collaborating. Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson is not the type to get in the way of my work. If you know who she is, you will understand that she is not the one who interferes. Let me give you a concrete example. When my predecessor was in office, she only came to his office three times. One was about his confirmation, two about general assembly, and three about common fund issues.

The woman is not like that. She does her work in a manner that does not interfere with yours. She will only direct you on what to do but will never interfere. We are learning from her, and so, if there is anything you’ve heard, please dispel that rumour. I enjoy working with her. It is important to have an experienced adult figure to direct you. But to stress the point, she does not interfere with my work.”

Meanwhile, she has revealed that traditional leaders have come to admire her leadership, despite their reservations about her appointment.

She claims to have a solid relationship with the traditional leaders.

When asked to rate the performance of the former MCE, whom she replaced, she declined, stating, “Was that necessary?” I am not the one to evaluate him. He did his best, and I’ve taken over and am doing my part. It is not for me to evaluate him. His work will be judged by the people he served.

He did his job, and now he’s gone. Why should I give him a rating? We all have different leadership styles and ways of doing things. I don’t believe I am qualified to rate him.”
