Ghana’s 1978 AFON Cup missing-Mohammed Polo

Former Accra Hearts of Oak and Black Stars player Mohammed Ahmed Polo aka the dribbling magician, who was part of the 1978 squad that won the Afcon has declared the cup missing.

The former player said the cup which they won for the country was nowhere to be found.

He made the assertion in an interview on Rainbow Sports.

He was speaking to Isaac Warlanyo Wallace.

According to him, the cup which they sacrificed and won for Ghana had gone missing.

He was reacting to the abysmal performance and early exist of the Black Stars of Ghana from the ongoing 2021 AFCON tournament.

Ghana ended at the bottom of Group C in the tournament and failed to qualify for the ongoing tournament.

He believes the players should be oriented and shown the previous Afcon trophies won by the nation before participating in any other tournament.

Mohammed Polo added that after winning the 1978 Afcon trophy, Ghana has failed to win another trophy and to worsen our plight, the current players failed to put up a better performance in the ongoing games.
