The Minority in Parliament has accused Frontier Health Services of fleecing and ripping off of Ghanaians and international travellers in the name of Covid-19 test charges at the Kotoka International Airport.
Leader of the caucus, Alhaji Haruna Iddrisu addressing the parliamentary press corps said the charges and fees must be reviewed and reviewed in earnest by the government.
The lawmaker opined that nowhere in the world does anybody pay $150 for the Covid-19 test.
The MP said the least is $50 with the highest being $100 hence the need for a review.
To his side, the year regime at the Airport is even questionable and a making exercise instead of being a health epidemic that needs our collective efforts to combat it.
He insisted the cost for the testing at the Airport must be reviewed immediately and possibly made free for Ghanaians.
“We consider that a rip-off. We consider it prohibitively high and $50 for Ghanaian nationals is high. At best it should be free for Ghanaians”.
He hinted at plans to file a motion with support from North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Mintah K. Akandoh, the MP for Juaboso to demand accountability and an audit of the cost of the test and how much have been generated so far.
