GCL overly influenced by the gov’t-Mahama
Former President John Dramani slammed the General Legal Council (GLC).
The former president believes the council has tied potential lawyers’ hands behind their backs.
This, he believes, is a bad omen for the future of legal practise in Ghana.
He believes it will be difficult to raise “confident, independent, and creative” lawyers if they are unable to challenge the GLC’s “oppressive rules.”
He was speaking at the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) 2nd Annual Conference.
The theme of the two-day event is ‘The NDC@30: The Past, Present, Future, and Role of the NDC.’
He accused the Council of being overly influenced by the government, which is why it appears to be intimidating trainees interested in becoming problem-solving practitioners.
