Focus on discussions that will encourage our players & not their winning bonus- Black Galaxies Management to Media
Management Committee Chairman for Black Galleries, Dr Kofi Amoa-Abban has asked Ghanaians to encourage the players and the team to keep shining.
He has also asked the media to stop focusing on the money the players would be given and rather highlight their successes.
He noted that discussing such topics could interfere with and discourage the players.
The Black Galaxies are in action against Benin in the preliminary round of the 2023 CHAN qualifiers this weekend at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
Ghana host Benin in the first leg before travelling to Cotonou for the second leg in a few days’ time.
The team has been engaging lower-tier sides in a series of friendly games as they prepare for the crucial hurdle.
The Management Chairman was optimistic the team would excel considering their preparation.
He assured Ghanaians that the Black Galaxies have prepared for the game ahead of them and are looking forward to making the nation proud.
”We have prepared. Whatever it takes for the team to make the nation proud has been done,” he added.
Responding to whether the winning bonus for the team, had been paid after the win against Benin in the first leg, he said, ”let us not talk about money on the radio. How much can we give them to appreciate them? The fact that they are representing the country and sacrificing for the nation, would be appreciated. Money is not a problem, but I will appeal to the media to be circumspect in how they discuss issues about money. If the media continue to discuss issues related to money it could distract the team”.
He said the focus for the team is to qualify for CHAN. That is what we should focus on and encourage them to do.
