A member of the E-Levy Technical Committee at the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Isaac Kobina Amoako, has disclosed that bank to bank transfers below Ghc20,000 are not affected by E-Levy charges.
He said transferring money from your bank account to another person below Ghc20,000 is exempted.
”Transfering money from your bank account into another bank account is affected by E-levy. But the threshold is not above Ghc100 but from Ghc20,000. If you are sending money from your bank account to another bank account that is not up to GHc20,000, you will not be charged E-Levy.”
Meanwhile, he has asked mobile money users to report any mobile money agent who would demand money from them for sending money into their own accounts.
He explained the levy applies to persons sending money to other mobile money users.
”Asking an agent to save money in your personal Momo account does not demand E-levy. Report any agent who will demand E-Levy from you for saving money in your personal account.”
He further explained that withdrawals are also not affected by E-levy and money from Ghc100 and below are not affected by E-Levy.
He stated that the transfer from your wallet above Ghc100 to the same network and transfers from your wallet to another network would be affected by the levy.
