COVID-19: Kumasi markets to be fumigated March, 27

Markets in the Ashanti Region will be fumigated on Friday, March 27, 2020.

The Minister of the region, Simon Osei-Mensah said in a statement.

He urged traders at the various markets to co-operate and comply with the ban on activities in all the markets in the region.

A similar exercise was done in Accra on Monday and this is part of the government’s measures to battle the deadly coronavirus.

As part of measures to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 in the country, markets in the Greater Accra Region were on Monday, 23 March 2020 were closed for a fumigation exercise.

The Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Hajia Alima Mahama, explained that the exercise was necessary to rid the nation’s capital of any looming infestations.

Ghana has so far recorded 68 cases of COVID-19 with two deaths.

There is a ban on all social gatherings.

The government has also shut all the country’s borders and entry ports.
