Covid-19: Health Directorate appeals to Chiefs to encourage residents to get vaccinated

The District Medical Director for Upper West Akyem, Thomas Azurago is admonishing chiefs and queen mothers to join the campaign in encouraging residents to get vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus.

The medical officer is of the view that traditional leaders are highly respected, thus adding their voices to the campaign for residents to get vaccinated will go a long way to encourage several people.

The second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccines would begin on Tuesday, October 6, 2021.

He said the chiefs should add their voices in getting inhabitants of the area to go out in their numbers to take the COVID-19 vaccination when it starts in the community.

He advised residents to participate in the exercise especially, those who were yet to take their first dose.

He said Ghanaians must support the campaign by the government to get some 20 million Ghanaians vaccinated.
