COVID-19 global figure reaches 5 million
The number of people infected by the coronavirus worldwide has now reached five million, data collated by Johns Hopkins University has disclosed
The number of deaths caused by the virus currently stands at 328,172 deaths.
Also, it is believed that the true number of infections is likely to be far higher, with many unrecorded or undiagnosed.
The World Health Organization has recorded its largest daily rise in global cases, with 106,000 reported over the last 24 hours.
In Ghana, 173 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed.
The current case count now stands at 6,269, according to the Ghana Health Service’s latest update on the country’s COVID-19 situation.
The update also indicated 125 more recoveries, raising the number of recoveries to 1,898.
