Covid-19: Chief Imam calls for National Prayers & respect for directives

His Eminence the National Chief Imam and Grand Mufti of the Republic of Ghana, Sheikh Prof. Osman Nuhu Sharubutu has directed all District and Regional Imam’s to conduct special prayers against coronavirus on Friday 20th March 2020 at various mosques and homes in the country.

He further encouraged that all such prayers and congressional prayers be done in small groups or at homes.

The revered Islamic leader extended special invitations to leaders of all other faith groups in Ghana to join him and the Muslim community in supplication to Allah to protect us, grant us peace, love lives and protect us from coronavirus and all other diseases.

His Eminence asked Muslims to abide by the preventive measures such as avoiding handshakes, public gatherings, festivals, events among others.

The position was taken based on sound Islamic principles including the love for and preservation of life.
