Covid-19 cases surging, we’ve 818 deaths, 3,618 active cases now-GHS
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has cautioned Ghanaians to adhere strictly to the protocols of the deadly coronavirus because we are in our 3rd wave.
Director-General Dr. Patrick Kumah Aboagye addressing the media at the Ministry of Information said the country currently has 3,618 active cases.
The total number of deaths he disclosed are now ar 818 with some 21 persons in severe conditions of the virus.
He advised Ghanaians to be cautious so we would be able to avert the 3rd wave and the implications because the 3rd wave cases are more than the 1st and 2nd waves combined.
On foreign travels, he said as of July 21, over 379,000 tests have been conducted and out of the figure, 2,107 have tested positive and have been isolated.
Despite the figures, the positivity rate is 7.2%, he added.
Kumasi and the Greater Accra Regions have the highest cases, he further stated.
Nationwide, a total of 1,379,016 tests have been done with 95,538 recoveries.
A total of 367 schools have recorded cases of Covid-19 with a cumulative total of 2,453 positive cases.
Out of this figure, 90% of the affected students have recovered, the D-G said.
There are 238 active cases among students from 6 Regions (Ahafo-2, Ashanti-151, Greater Accra-75, Bono-1, Bono East-1, Oti-8).
The Volta Region has recorded the highest number of cases of 512 with the North East Region being the only Region with no positive cases.
