Corrupt people hate transparency because it is the vaccine to cure corruption-Veep

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has asserted t5hat corrupt people are against transparency.

The second gentleman of the land says such persons are opposed to strong institutions that work in preventing the canker of corruption.

He noted that building strong institutions means putting in place the right systems and practices that ensure transparency and bring about efficiency.

With this, although corruption will remain a chronic disease, transparency would be its vaccine to reduce the rate of spread.

He maintained that our biggest disease is corruption and the vaccine is transparency.

”Corrupt people hate transparency,” he added saying the digitization agenda has helped the government to make tremendous progress in fighting corruption.

He said the Akufo-Addo government’s infusion of digitalization in the provision of government services as part of the fight against corruption is beginning to yield major results, with even more interventions planned to fight it even harder.

The Vice President, who was speaking at the 2022 edition of the Annual Conference of the Institute of Internal Auditors (Ghana) in Accra on Thursday emphasized that the government is very committed to the fight against corruption, and will continue to infuse digitalization into the operations of state institutions to ensure more transparency.

“Building strong institutions means putting in place the right systems and practices that ensure transparency and bring about efficiency. With this, although corruption may remain a chronic disease, transparency will be its vaccine to reduce the rate of spread. As the saying goes, our biggest disease is corruption, and the vaccine is transparency. Corrupt people hate transparency,” he indicated.
