Claims that a train carrying Ghanaian students was attacked in Ukraine, false-Minister, MFA

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey has debunked claims that a train carrying Ghanaian students in Ukraine was shot at.

She described the claims as false and asked the public to disregard them.

The Minister was responding to claims by Member of Parliament for North Tongu constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa that a train carrying Ghanaian students was attacked.

The Minister responding to the claims described it as unsubstantiated and further asked people to stay away from sensationalism.

To her, this could only heighten the already volatile situation.

Ghanaian students in Ukraine have since Thursday (February 24 ) appealed to the Ghana government to evacuate them from the country that is currently facing attacks from Russia.

The government of Ghana has decided to evacuate Ghanaian students from Ukraine to neighbouring countries – Moldova, Belarus, Slovakia, and Hungary – due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The Minister revealed over 220 students have been identified and will soon arrive in Ghana.
