The residents noted that although efforts were underway to prevent galamsey in the area, some bad and selfish individuals are still engaging in illegal mining activities.

The residents are mostly cocoa farmers indicated that the illegal mining activities have destroyed their farmlands and deprived them of their livelihoods.

”Since I was born in this community, I have not seen such devastation of lands like this. We are predominantly farmers, and that is what I have used to see my three children through the University, ” a farmer said.

Another said, ”galamseyers are destroying lands. We are appealing to President Akufo-Addo and Abena Osei Asare to intervene. We are farmers and our livelihoods have been affected”.

Several other farmers declared that without farming, there would be no other job opportunities for them.

”There are no other jobs except for the cocoa and cassava farms. We are voters who consistently vote for t5he NPP nad we cannot allow them to use galamsey to destroy our lands,” another farmer lamented.
