Andre Dede Ayew’s dream of playing in the EPL shuttered by Brentford
Ghana’s captain Andre Dede Ayew dream of reaching the English Championship play-off final shuttered after Sweasea city defeat to Brentford on Wednesday night.
Brentford beat Swansea city 3-1 in theIr final ever game at Griffin Park to reach the Championship play-off final.
Trailing 1-0 after the first league, the Bees needed only 15 minutes to pave their way in front on aggregate.
Ollie Watkins finished off a swift counter-attack for the opener and Emiliano Marcondes nodded in Brentford’s second from Said Benrahma’s pass.
Bryan Mbeumo’s well-struck second-half volley from Rico Henry’s left-wing cross confirmed their place at Wembley, although the hosts had to endure a nervy finale after a Pontus Jansson error let Rhian Brewster, to reduce Swansea’s aggregate deficit to one.
Brentford will face either Fulham or Cardiff City on 4 August, with a Premier League place on offer for victors.
Andre Ayew enjoyed the entire duration of the match, he scored 18 goals in 47 appearances for Swansea City this season.
Swansea finished 6th on the league log whilst Brentford finished 3rd to book their playoffs places.
Meanwhile New Black stars player Tariq Fosu’s Brentford will meet either Fulham or Cardiff at Wembley for the last huddle.
