The government has disputed assertions that the promise by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), to pay all customers of the collapsed forced them to pay the customers against the initial plan to pay them in bonds.
A former director of communications for the party Nana Akomea addressing the media on Monday said the government had planned to pay the customers in full before the NDC launched its manifesto.
The NDC MP for Tamale Central, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini in a recent interview described the u-turn by government as wicked since it failed to listen the aggrieved customers and allowed some to die through frustrations.
He said the promise by the NDC forved the NPP to take that decision.
But Nana Akomea said “ You will recall that President Akufo-Addo had made a statement that the plight of the Ghanaian who has had his moneys locked up in bonds for five years, it has come to his attention and that he was going to make sure that everybody got their money.
“That statement was made before the NDC launched their manifesto.
“At the end of the day what the president will be concerned with is the plight of the Ghanaian and not.”
