The First Vice Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti region, Mr. Kwabena Senkyire has rubbished claims that sitting MPs in the region would be allowed to go unopposed.
He said the delegates in the region would be allowed to decide the fate of anyone who has expressed interest in the seats in the region including the sitting MPs.
According to g to him, the delegates should be the ones to make a decision, and if any MP believes he deserves another opportunity, they should allow their achievements to speak for them.
He explained the selection of parliamentary candidates is guided by Article 12 of the party’s constitution, hence no one has the power to impose candidates on delegates.
He was reacting to recent complaints by some party supporters that the party’s chairman in the region, Bernard Antwi Bosiako aka Wontumi was on a mission to impose candidates on them.
Mr. Senkyire said if any MP believes he has performed so well, then he should allow the delegates to make that decision because non-of them would be allowed to go unopposed.
